You know you’re in Florida when...
It’s a different world down here. Not just because of the sunshine and palm trees, but most definitely the demographic.
Noticed this as soon as we got off the plane. Yes, we know there are many snowbirds in Florida and many retire to this state... but it’s the accommodations that are granted, even at the airport already is what we noticed. Wheelchairs!!! Wheelchairs everywhere. At every gate lined up. Being pushed with no one in it. Being pushed with elders in it. And I kid you not, there was even a traffic jam of them at one of the gates, waiting to board.
Then there is the wealthy... with their fancy cars. So many fancy cars. What I found odd is most cars are black or a dark color. I thought there would be a lot more white or bright colored vehicles. Guess not. And parking once again for the disabled. What was good too see is there was lots of it. Even at the beach. These elders and handicapped people are active. They go places…. to the stores, to the beach and to the local community center with tennis courts and pickleball. These people are living life.
