Even Firewood needs some lovin’.

A wooden shack for wood.

Going back a few years Aniko and I thought, it would be great to have a fire-pit. She said: “there are some cinder blocks in the back yard, just put them in a circle”.  Little did she know, at that time, that’s not how I roll.  After we completed our first project together, which resulted a fire-pit, that was more than just cinder blocks, we needed wood.  So we got some from a local fire-wood supplier. As we did the consecutive year. But we are not burning through it fast enough.  So this year we took a gap year.  Use what we have.  However, the wood sits outside all year.  Rain or shine. Snow or ice.  It’s just sits there. One stack even toppled over and leaned against the neighbor’s fence.  Not sure if that happened out of boredom, despair or it was was trying to escape.

And when do we want to use the fire-pit?  …after it rains of course.  So this year I figured, I will remedy this.  So after unpacking all the scrap wood, from previous projects and/or structures, I analyzed what I have to work with.  I took a deep breath and got to work.  The results can be seen below. A covered structure, that can house wood 2 stacks deep and also split between years (dry as opposed to semi-dry).  All this for $0.
